2018 Autism Blog Hop

Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.
I'm really happy to be supporting Autism Awareness Month via a Blog Hop organised by my friend and fellow author R J Scott. There are loads of other authors involved and you can check out the list here.
I'm at an age where my daughter is exploring her university options. I also met up recently with a group of friends from my own uni days and both experiences have reminded me what it's like to be full of hope for the future and excited about what it might bring. I saw a great article on the BBC recently about an autistic policeman and how the uniform and rules suit the way he thinks. At the end of the article he says: "I can do this job as well as anyone else. I've been successful and that's because I have autism, not in spite of it. And if I've done it, other people can too."
My daughter doesn't have autism but the message that everyone, with all the quirks and differences they have, can be successful is one I hope she takes to heart.
